The Biggest Loser Review 3.6.2010 Season 9  Week 12

After tonight’s Biggest Loser episode there’s one thing that is clear…O’Neal loves Sunshine and Sunshine loves O’Neal. These lovable “losers” were the focus of the show as the two worked on becoming less co-dependent, and stronger as individuals. Never in my life have I seen a 300 pound African American male blubber so much on camera. But that is what is so endearing about good ole O’Neal. In a world of deadbeat dads it’s nice to see a guy who cares for his daughter.

Between all the warm and fuzzies between O’Neal and Sunshine there was a lot going on at the ranch. Melissa was in full game playing mode and seemed to be alienating herself even more from the rest of the housemates. One thing I give her credit for is at least she isn’t two faced about anything and she’s very clear she’s not there to make friends. But it’s still a stupid strategy that has proven to be unfruitful for those who have tried it.

This week’s challenge for immunity was as easy as the push of a button. Host Allison revealed that if a person pushed the big red button they would immediately have to weigh themselves with the goal of losing two percent of their bodyweight. If they pushed the button, which could be done at any time during the week, and didn’t meet their goal there were no negative consequences. The button loomed large during the week as everyone was trying to strategize on when and if they were going to push it. Newcomer Vicky was the first to push it and was immediately embarrassed in front of the other housemates. Her target weight loss was six and she only pulled a three. The rest of the episode featured Sam, Koli, and Mellissa putting in extra workouts before pushing the button. Sam got to it first and won immunity by shattering his goal of six pounds by losing ten.

At the weigh-in Melissa and Drea fell below the yellow line, and in a very obvious vote, Melissa was sent packing as she received every vote. Earlier in the episode Bob had warned her that by being a game player it could come around and bite her in the end, which proved to be prophetic. This season’s contestants aren’t into the game play and Melissa was too ignorant to recognize that, which ultimately lead to her being voted off twice. All I have to say is I feel sorry for Lance.
